Provide daily support of Morgan Stanley electronic internal/external trading and risk applications for the Institutional Equities division. Position is on the MS trading floor and candidate will provide support both in person and via hotline. Responsibilities include application testing/verification/deployment, manning hotline, application troubleshooting and resolution, and interfacing with external clients. Business lines being covered range from Cash, Programs, Derivatives, Swaps, Algorithmic, Client Facing systems. Candidate will be in close, constant contact with the business unit, and will often act as a liaison between the business and development groups. This is not a desktop support role.

General Purpose:
Design, implement and support the UNIX server environments for both internal and external projects. Work closely with the technical team leads to develop and implement new policy initiatives and best practice guidelines.
Responsibilities:
* Design, manage, maintain, and document both internal and customer UNIX environments.
* Write and review technical specifications for Unix based environment.
* Resolve performance, security and reliability issues with production Unix environments

* Proficiency with PHP development
* Proficiency with MySQL * developing schema, replication, backups, performance tuning.
* Proficiency with hardware configuration, software installation and configuration, system operation and fault discovery/resolution. Strong to Excellent troubleshooting skills.
* Experience with TCP/IP network administration. ISP / Enterprise infrastructure experience helpful.
* Strong knowledge of high-availability / DR solutions
* Experience with Enterprise back-up solutions such as CA BrightStor/ArcServe or Veritas NetBackup
